These databases are widely used by law enforcement, governments, and private companies around the world.
Face Privacy offers a secure process of photo submission. The platform securely submits the user's photo to scan databases worldwide. However, it is worth noting that Face Privacy never stores original photos, maintaining only what's sufficient to submit removal requests, search for duplicates, and find where the user's image might appear online.
While Face Privacy actively works to remove facial data from facial recognition databases, it does not provide an absolute guarantee for the removal. The reason being, some databases might not honor opt-outs or could have internal review processes that make removal complex or longer than anticipated.
Face Privacy uses privacy frameworks like GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and CCPA (California Consumer Privacy Act) as they support a user's right to be forgotten. These regulations govern how data is collected, stored, and used, thereby enabling Face Privacy to submit removal and opt-out requests under these applicable privacy laws.
In case a user's facial data reappears after being removed from a database, Face Privacy's continuous monitoring system catches it. If the data is detected again, Face Privacy automatically submits new removal requests to ensure that the recovered data is also eliminated, providing ongoing protection to the user.
